Briar Cliff University Celebrates the Season of Giving

December 7, 2021

Briar Cliff University clubs, organizations, and individuals are celebrating Christmas by giving back with various donation and toy drives.

Clubs and organizations like Catholic Daughters, S.O.U.R.C.E, and Men and Women of Color sponsored Angel Trees to collect toys, books, and general necessities for local nonprofits to distribute to children across Siouxland.

New this year, in lieu of the annual Christmas Party for People with Disabilities due to COVID precautions, Briar Cliff Campus Ministry is collecting items for Mid-Step Services and creating “Christmas in a box” to help bring holiday cheer.

As one of the highlights of the year for Briar Cliff and Mid-Step, Campus Ministry and other Briar Cliff departments are collecting items to take the party to the residents. Donations include Christmas socks, gingerbread house kits, party decorations, Christmas movies, popcorn, and candy.

“We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back in a different way this Christmas,” says Jason Salisbury, Campus Minister at Briar Cliff University. “COVID might have put a wrench in one of our favorite events of the year, but we want to make sure the residents of Mid-Step know we are thinking of them.”

Briar Cliff prides itself on our mission and values, including Connecting with Joyful Service, a core Catholic Franciscan value. A culmination of faculty, staff, and students supported each collection, with a passion to support Siouxland families. Proceeds raised during the Haunted Tunnels, a traditional Briar Cliff Halloween pastime, also supports these collections.
