Why This Program?

A different kind of science.

The Briar Cliff Political Science minor provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the discipline. As a part of the Social Sciences, Political Science deals with the way human beings organize and govern themselves and is a valuable component of a liberal arts education.

  • Power and Politics: Political science enhances our understanding of human relations, behaviors, and decision-making. Power dynamics, diplomacy, justice, law, rights, and social order are essential concerns of the discipline, providing insight into the modern political landscape.

  • Pair up: The Political Science minor complements majors in History, the History Law Track, Business, Psychology, Environmental Studies, Criminal Justice, and the Criminal Justice Homeland Security Emphasis. It is an asset to anyone interested in the political functions of our nation and the world.
  • Prepare for the World: Political science prepares students for professional careers or further graduate study in the fields of law, government, and business, and for active participation in local, state, national, and international politics.

The political science program offers students opportunities to enrich their liberal arts education, engage with our political system, and prepare for a wide array of careers.
