Online Summer Bridge Program

Transitioning from high school to college can be intimidating. Our online Summer Bridge program is here to help!

During Summer Bridge, you'll have opportunities to engage academically and socially to prepare you for a successful transition to the Briar Cliff University community. Using the learning management system Brightspace, you'll be able to access important information about life at The Cliff, post to discussion forums and connect with your fellow Chargers before school starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are students able to start this program?

The program starts June 1 and ends the second week of August.

What are the expectations for this program?

In order to fully benefit from this program, it is recommended that you log in to Brightspace twice a week. This will also help you get in the habit of checking this site regularly, which you will do a lot as a student.

What are the benefits of participating in this program?

A major benefit is that instead of packing everything you need to know about BCU into the first week of classes, you can learn them over a more gradual period of time. Having the information available in advance will help you adjust better to college life.

Is this program required?

The program is not a requirement. In college, you will have the opportunity to try new things and engage in activities that are not required, but aid in your personal development. There are so many benefits to participating, so take a leap of faith and give it a try!

What are some examples of what we will do in this program?

You will be provided a forum where you can introduce yourself and read other students’ introductions. We will provide basic information about residence hall life, meal plans for the cafeteria and Java City, course schedule breakdowns, ordering textbooks and much more.

How do I access the program?

Each student will receive logins that work for the main portal called BCYou!, the learning management system called Brightspace, and Microsoft Outlook (email). Once a student logs into the BCYou! Portal, then they can login to Brightspace where the program is housed. It is good to also login to your email regularly because this is where the coordinator for Summer Bridge will send you important updates.

To access Brightspace, you must first go to the BCYou! Portal. To access the portal click here.
