What is a community hunger banquet?

A community hunger banquet is an interactive event that simulates unequal distribution of food in a community. Attendees are randomly assigned to high, middle, or low income groups and experience different meals based on the group assigned.

What is the purpose of our community hunger banquet?

The purpose of this year's hunger banquet is focused on food waste. It aims to help participants experience the unequal distribution of food while showing how much edible food is thrown away. Not only does it raise awareness, it also builds empathy, and encourages practical solutions by connecting the reality of hunger with the preventable problem of food waste, all in a way that sparks conversation and inspires community action. A panel of community members knowledgeable in food waste will be answering pre-determined questions as well as questions from participants. Find out more on our panelists below.

Who is recommended to attend the community hunger banquet?

Anyone working in healthcare or a social service field or students going into healthcare, or a social service field are welcome to attend.
