The Presidential Scholarship is the highest honor and largest scholarship available at Briar Cliff University.

The Presidential Scholarship is Briar Cliff University’s most prestigious award, offering full tuition and general fees to high-achieving students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership, and show a strong commitment to service.

Scholarship Highlights

Award: Full tuition + general fee (after state and federal aid are applied)
Recipients: Up to 4 students each year
Duration: Renewable for up to 4 years (8 semesters)
Coverage: Tuition and general fee only (does not include room, meals, books, or personal expenses)

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be admitted as a first-time, full-time undergraduate
Hold a minimum 3.75 GPA (unweighted, 4.0 scale)
A resume that displays a history of academic effort, leadership experience, and volunteerism in the community.
Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation. The letters of recommendation should be from non-related individuals who can describe the applicant’s strengths, weaknesses, and characteristics. This will help the interview committee determine the applicant’s ability to succeed, contribute, and lead at Briar Cliff University.
A video submission in which applicants introduce themselves and speak in detail about the activities in school, church, and community that they have taken part in as well as list any distinctive academic honors, awards or recognitions they have received.
Participate in the on-campus interview.

Selection

Students are chosen based on:

Academic achievement
Leadership experience
Community service
Communication skills and character

Renewal Requirements

Recipients must:

Maintain a 3.0 GPA
Remain full-time and live on campus
Complete the FAFSA annually (if U.S. citizen)
Uphold BCU’s Student Handbook and Academic Catalog

If GPA or housing requirements are not met, students may be placed on probation for one semester before potential loss of the scholarship.

Important Dates

Application Deadline: January 12 by 5 PM
Interview Day: January 23
Recipients can expect to be notified the week after their interview.
