Looking to develop your skills and coaching competencies as a coach? Briar Cliff University offers the Iowa Coaching Authorization and the Iowa Coaching Endorsement .

The Iowa Coaching Endorsement is for education majors who are getting their teaching license. If you are receiving your teaching license, earn a coaching endorsement that can help set you apart.
The Iowa Coaching Authorization is for all other students and individuals. Your coaching authorization will help be certified to coach.

More About the Program

Whether you are seeking an endorsement or authorization the coursework and requirements are the same. Beyond the courses, certificates showing successful completion of concussion training and CPR are also required.

Concussion training: The NFHS has teamed up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to educate coaches, officials, parents and students on the importance of proper concussion recognition and management in high school sports. Student must complete the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) training. Only this approved training will be accepted.
CPR Certificate: The Board of Educational Examiners (BoEE) does not accept a note/letter from the instructor. You will need to upload a CPR card from one of the following approved providers: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), National Safety Council (NSC), Medic First Aid.

To be a licensed coach (even volunteer) for any Iowa School, the coach needs one of the license types listed on the next page. Once licensed, the license type and expiration for all coaches is public record available at the following site:
