About Our Office
The Health and Counseling Center has a licensed nursing staff and counselor. The office provides basic health services at no cost to students. Walk-ins are welcome; no appointments necessary.
Counseling services are available, free and confidential for all Briar Cliff students. The campus counselor is a licensed independent social worker (LISW) that works with many life issues including: depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress, alcohol or drug use/abuse, relationship issues, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Please make an appointment by stopping in, or you can call or email the counselor anytime with questions or concerns.
FOR OFF-CAMPUS STUDENTS: If you find yourself in crisis, and do not live close to the Sioux City campus, you can receive help. Please call (800) 273-8255. You will be connected to a trained counselor at a crisis center in your area. This service is available 24/7, 365 days per year. For more information, see the after-hours/off-campus care page.
Students needing treatment or advice from the nurse's office are encouraged to visit or walk-in. However, if it is an emergency, you should call 911 as soon as possible. During office hours, a campus nurse is on hand. You can also be examined by a nurse practitioner, who is on campus twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). While our office provides basic health services at no cost to our students, there are minimal charges for laboratory testing, tuberculosis screenings and immunizations.
All students carrying nine or more credit hours on the Briar Cliff University campus are required to carry health insurance. Coverage may be through the student’s parents or through insurance students carry on their own.
Medical History Form
All athletes who wish to compete for Briar Cliff are required to complete a standard medical history form upon admission to the University. Also, non-athletes may also fill out a standard medical history form to help improve patient care at our Health Services office.
Briar Cliff University is hosting a variety of events throughout April to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month. These events seek to educate the Briar Cliff community about sexual assault awareness and the challenges faced by survivors of sexual assault.
