STUDENT BLOG: Top five hacks that make life easier on The Cliff

Make the most of your time at The Cliff with these BCU life hacks!

1. The bookstore offers WAY more than you think.

The Briar Cliff Bookstore is truly an underrated part of the Briar Cliff campus. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out the bookstore does dry cleaning. There are also snacks, a picture developer and Jelly Belly machine. For those students who don’t have cars on campus, the bookstore even offers necessities like shampoo, soap, deodorant and more helpful items.

2. You can get a Merrymint White Mocha anytime of the year.

Java City carries white mocha, peppermint and whip cream all year round (just not the Pop Rocks®). With that said, not everyone knows chocolate milk, sugar-free items (just ask), and a whole new variety of soda and juice options are available this year.

3. The library offers phone chargers, laptops, DVD rentals, and other cool stuff (all for rent, of course).

You’ve probably been in this situation before. You are in the library and your phone is almost dead or maybe your laptop died. Well, the library has your back.

4. The on-campus nurse practitioner can prescribe meds.

This is especially helpful if you don’t want to go all the way to Urgent Care. Located in Alverno, the nurse’s office is open Monday: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., Tuesday: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., and Friday: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. with the nurse practitioner on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

5. Briar Cliff Student Government (BCSG) is always on the hunt for new ideas.

Don’t be afraid to tell a BCSG senator what’s on your mind. BCSG meets every other week to talk about new ideas and topics that have our students talking. New clubs like Women of Color and events such as Francisco de Mayo and the Spring Formal were implemented because of your ideas. If you have an idea, share it.
