Briar Cliff Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

(Sioux City, IA – October 2, 2020) Briar Cliff University is excited to welcome new faces and talents to campus.

Joseph Ciquera joins Briar Cliff as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Brockport State University and went on to receive his Master of Business Administration – Global Management at the University of Phoenix.

Ciquera worked with FedEx as an International Sales Executive and Sale Manager, earning over $110 million of international business in a year from a single territory.

Brian Cook joins Briar Cliff as Director of Choral Activities. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho, going on to receive his Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Houston where he is currently a doctoral candidate.

Cook was previously the director of record for the Men’s Chorus at the University of Houston. He has conducted Houston’s top choral organizations, including the Houston Symphony Chorus and the 2020 Grammy Award- winning Houston Chamber Choir.

Dr. Chadwick Fuchs comes to Briar Cliff as an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology. Fuchs obtained his Master of Science in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University and his Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology from the University of Texas Arlington.

Fuchs’ research and expertise focuses on motor imagery ability across the lifespan, motor impairments primarily Development Coordination Disorder, motor skill interventions for special populations and sport psychology.

Dr. Soren Grieve comes to Briar Cliff as an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Washington, then earned her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Columbia University and Doctor of Physical Therapy from The College of St. Scholastica.

Grieve previously worked as a physical therapist at the University of Minnesota hospital before joining the PT department at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. She has completed programs through Evidence in Motion and the International Spine and Pain Institute earning certifications as a Therapeutic Pain Specialist as well as Spinal Manual Therapist.

Kathryn Kurz joins Briar Cliff as an Assistant Professor of Education. She holds her degrees in Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary Education as well as a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane University.

Kurz completed 29 years of public education before arriving at BCU. She has been awarded National Model Status from the National Career Academy Coalition along with Grand Island Public Schools: Middle School Teacher of the Year and Nebraska Red Cross Outstanding Teacher/Mentor of the Year.

Laurie Oswald comes to Briar Cliff as the new Director of Financial Aid. Oswald received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her Master of Business Administration from Wayne State College.

Oswald has been in the financial aid profession for over 26 years prior to coming to Briar Cliff.

Dr. Perry Wisinger joins Briar Cliff as an Assistant Professor of Business. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Louisiana-Monroe. He then earned his Master of Business Administration in Finance from Louisiana Tech University along with in interdisciplinary Doctor of Philosophy from Texas Tech University.

Wisinger has 20 years of full-time experience practicing in many areas of public accounting and consulting as well as 13 years of teaching accounting, economics and finance at the university level.
