Sioux City, Iowa – Briar Cliff University will host a unique faculty symposium in recognition of the inauguration of Rachelle L. Karstens as the University’s eleventh president on Wednesday, April 24 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the St. Francis Center on Briar Cliff’s campus.
Reflecting upon the University’s Catholic Franciscan values and vision, the event will infuse the inauguration week’s theme of Igniting Faith, Empowering Learning and Inspiring Service. A member of Briar Cliff’s faculty will reflect upon each sub-theme and how it contributes to Briar Cliff’s mission for producing graduates that embrace lives of purpose and impact. Those involved include David Hoferer, associate professor of biology, considering Igniting Faith; Theresa Engle, associate professor of education, considering Empowering Learning; and Cathy Grimsley, assistant professor of nursing, considering Inspiring Service.
Faculty presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with Briar Cliff professors emeriti Tom Padgett, Professor Emeritus of psychology; Jeanne Emmons, Professor Emerita of English and modern languages; and Adam Frisch, Professor Emeritus of English and modern languages.
The event will be moderated by Bruce Miller, a faculty member at Briar Cliff and editor of the Sioux City Journal. The public is invited to attend.
