One-of-a-kind Human Library returning to Briar Cliff

Sioux City, Iowa--Social injustice will be the theme of the Human Library, a unique and transformative event scheduled for Thursday, September 21 from 10 am to 2 pm in the Stark Student Center on the campus of Briar Cliff University. The Human Library is open to the public.

For the second straight year, the Human Library will expose Briar Cliff students to individuals of diverse backgrounds, sharing their stories of prejudice and discrimination. Last year’s very popular Human Library event included individuals speaking about drug addiction, immigration, homosexuality and law enforcement among others. This year, the Human Library is expanding to feature individuals highlighting the social impact of poverty, dementia, depression, paraplegia and more.

Local organizations including Mary Treglia House, Heartland Counseling, Siouxland Mental Health Center, Sioux City Police Department, South Sioux City School District, Council on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, Alzheimer’s Association, Sunnybrook Church, Morningside College and Northwest Area Education Association will be participating.
