Briar Cliff University Presents Christmas at the Orpheum

Briar Cliff University will present Christmas at the Orpheum, the region’s premier choral-orchestral holiday celebration with more than 150 performers at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the Orpheum Theatre, 528 Pierce Street,  Sioux City.

Themed “One World,” the holiday concert will feature numerous seasonal pieces, including K. Lee Scott’s Christmas Cantata: The Incarnation, Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings and Timpani, G.F. Handel’s Gloria and the world premiere of composer Bryan Greer’s While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks,conducted by Dr. Sean Burton, division chair of arts and humanities, associate professor of music and the Gilchrist Foundation director of choral activities at BCU.

The annual event will showcase performances by the Briar Cliff University Choirs; members of the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra; world-renowned concert organist J. Reilly Lewis; Shannon Salyards, adjunct instructor of music, soprano, BCU;  Western Iowa Tech Community College Concert Choir, under the direction of William Darwin, Jr.; Dr. Jeremy Owens, assistant professor of music, harpsichord, BCU; and Siouxland Choral Artists.

Concert tickets are $12 for general admission and $10 for students and senior citizens. Purchase tickets at the door or in advance by calling 712-279-5417. No reserved seating.
