Choirs Kick Off Three-State Tour with Sioux City Concert

The Briar Cliff University Singers and Chamber Choir will kick off the “Sharing Siouxland Tour” with a winter choral concert, themed "Celebration," at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Sioux City.

This free public concert will feature a wide variety of devotional sacred choral music from the Classics to contemporary.

The BCU choirs perform under the baton of Dr. Sean Burton, division chair of arts and humanities, The Gilchrist Foundation director of choral activities and associate professor of music at Briar Cliff University, and are accompanied at the keyboard by Dr. Jeremy Owens, assistant professor of music at Briar Cliff University.

The week following the concert, BCU choirs will embark on a three-state tour of Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado, where they will share their spirited music-making and serve as Siouxland ambassadors, an initiative made possible by the generous support of The Gilchrist Foundation.

Briar Cliff University is a Catholic institution with an enrollment of more than 1,100 students from 31 states and 11 countries. Students are educated in the Franciscan tradition of excellence in the liberal arts and career preparation in an environment of care, compassion and service. For more information, please visit
