Briar Cliff University Shares 2024 Enrollment, Including the Largest Dual Enrollment Class

September 23, 2024

Briar Cliff University welcomes a total of 947 students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The University is especially proud of the partnerships with Bishop Heelan and Gehlen Catholic High Schools and the increase in dual enrollment students, marking one of the largest classes in the University’s history. Dual enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while enrolled in high school education. This initiative equips students with a head start on their college journey, saving time and tuition costs while better preparing them for academic success in higher education.

“Our partnership with local Catholic high schools has been instrumental in fostering an interest in higher education,” said Dr. Matthew Draud, President of Briar Cliff University. “By providing students with an affordable option to accumulate college credit, we are allowing students to begin their college experience early and empowering them to succeed in their future.”

Briar Cliff continues to grow in key areas, including enrollment of transfer students, online students, and retention. The University also celebrates a continued Catholic Franciscan commitment to the value of diversity, which leads to an enriched learning environment, and opportunities for personal growth. This diversity is evidenced by a student body consisting of:

  • Over 15 faith traditions, with 35% being Catholic.

  • Over 10 distinct ethnicities.

  • 41% of students of color.

  • Geographic hometowns consisting of 37 states, American Samoa, and 32 foreign countries.

Briar Cliff University is committed to maintaining this growth, with President Draud expressing his enthusiasm: "It's an exciting time to be at Briar Cliff University. Our diverse student body, growing enrollment, and strong partnerships are key to our continued success. We look forward to building on this foundation in the years ahead.”

Supporting access to a private, liberal arts college education, the University welcomed 36% of students with significant financial need and awarded an average of over $25k of scholarship aid to each undergraduate student per year, making it one of the most affordable institutions in the tri-state region.

In 2023-2024, Briar Cliff University introduced several new academic programs with a focus on high-impact interdisciplinary education, including a Bachelor of Arts in Human Performance and Business, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Interpretation and Translation, a Bachelor of Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Data Analytics. Further supporting future growth, competitive Cheer and Dance will be added as an athletic program starting in the Fall of 2025.

With a dedication to inclusivity, accessibility, and academic excellence, Briar Cliff University is poised to continue its growth while supporting students in achieving their academic and professional goals.
