Lessons of Leadership 2019 Presenters
Senator Joni Ernst, a native of Red Oak, IA has dedicated her life to her state and country, having served in the military for over 23 years and now in the United States Senate.
In November 2014, Joni was elected as the first woman to serve in a federal elected office from the State of Iowa and also became the first female combat veteran elected to serve in the United States Senate. In Washington, Joni serves on five Senate committees of major importance to Iowans: Armed Services; Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry; Environment and Public Works; Judiciary; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Omar Marquez ('17)
Regional Political Director, Republican Party of Iowa
Post-graduation, Omar moved to Washington D.C. to work for Senator Joni Ernst and then for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. Recently he returned to the state for his current role as the 4thDistrict Political Director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
Emily Vondrak ('16)
Marketing Lead, Pulse Marketing
After graduating with business and marketing degrees in 2016, her work with the Edesinactus team in Tanzania inspired her to go on to earn her Master's Degree in International Business with a concentration in sustainability from Hult International Business School in Boston. After completing the program, she stayed and worked in Boston for 2 years for a social media marketing company and for an international luxury diamond brand.
Julian Lee ('12)
Process Improvement Manager, Siouxland Community Health Center
Julian Lee is the Process Improvement Manager at the Siouxland Community Health Center, in Sioux City, Iowa. His main role includes helping lead the Siouxland Community Health Center’s organizational performance transformation. He focuses his work on facilitating and coaching improvement teams across the organization, in efforts to analyze and improve processes. The key goal in his role is to help enhance overall organizational efficiency, and to help enhance the overall patient healthcare experience.
