Graduation Checklist & Deadlines

Seniors, make sure you have completed the following steps, in order to be eligible to walk the stage at this year's commencement ceremony. If you have any questions, contact the registrar's office.

1. Apply to Graduate →
The deadline to apply to graduate is Feb. 1. You may need to meet with your advisor to make sure you've met all graduation requirements and declared a major.

2. Pick up graduation announcements →
Each student gets 10 free graduation announcements, available starting April 1 at the Briar Cliff bookstore. Additional announcements may be purchased there.

3. Pay off your student account →
The deadline for final payments on your account is April 1. For more information, contact the business office.

4. RSVP for "Toast to the Tassel" →
The senior send-off event is May 19. The deadline to RSVP is April 29. You also have the chance to submit a photo to the senior slideshow, one of the highlights of the reception.

5. Complete the senior destination survey →
You worked hard for your degree. Where will it take you? Take a few minutes and tell the career education office about the success you’re experiencing now and your immediate plans after graduation.

6. Complete your financial aid exit interview online →
The financial aid exit counseling is an online process that you need to complete if you received a federal student loan to attend Briar Cliff. It provides important information you need to prepare to repay your loan(s). If you need help, contact the Office of Financial Aid.

7. Register for summer classes (if needed) →
If you need summer classes to finish up your degree, you must register by April 30. One-third of your summer tuition must also be paid before commencement. Contact the registrar's office for more information.

8. Reserve your graduation DVD copy →
Pre-order your DVD copy (or copies) of the 2016 commencement ceremony online, and you won't have to fight the crowd on graduation day. Price is $16 per copy (that includes shipping).

9. Pick up your cap and gown →
Your graduation cap and gown will be available for pickup on May 16 at the BCU bookstore. Don’t worry — it will be ironed and wrinkle-free!

10. Donate to the Senior Class Gift →
Alumni donations helped provide the aid you received during your time at BCU. Now it's your turn to give back! Help the Class of 2016 reach its goal. Make a meaningful gift to the department or program you'd like to support for future Chargers.
