SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Briar Cliff University’s online social work and nursing degree completion programs are each ranked among the Top 25 in the nation, according to an annual report by The Community for Accredited Online Schools (accreditedschoolsonline.org).
The university’s online Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is ranked No. 16, and its online RN-to-BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) program is ranked No. 24. To qualify for the rankings, schools must hold public or private not-for-profit status, in addition to institutional accreditation.
“We are proud to be recognized for our continued excellence in online education,” said Dr. Todd Knealing, vice president for academic affairs. “We are committed to providing high quality, convenient and affordable options for degree completion, so professionals can advance their careers without sacrificing their everyday responsibilities.”
Briar Cliff's BSW degree completion program, one of the nation’s only to be accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), is intended for those who already have some college credit or an associate’s degree in social work or human services. The online RN-to-BSN program, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), is designed for registered nurses with an associate’s degree who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Both programs feature innovative coursework, caring faculty mentors, a close-to-home clinical experience and flexible acceptance of transfer credits.
The Community for Accredited Online Schools was founded in 2011 to provide online resources about pursuing an affordable education through institutions that have been certified by an accrediting agency. The website bases its rankings using a value-based methodology, analyzing several qualitative and quantitative data points.
