“Swimming with the Sharks” Provides Grants for Local Businesses

The Briar Cliff Enactus team awarded mini-grants to the winners of the annual “Swimming with the Sharks” event on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Local business owners presented their ideas and plans to a panel of judges who then determined how much money each would receive.

$2,500 award winner: Jefferson Beer Supply, a new brewery and sausage joint located in Jefferson, South Dakota.

$1,000 award winners: Light Mynd, a service dedicated to delivering social-emotional learning content to 21st-Century students; Retention Insights, a tool to improve retention of employees and students; and Yours Truly Gift Boxes, subscription gift boxes that aim to warm the hearts of your loved ones.

$300 award winner: Thrifted Adventures, an online thrift store selling vintage items.

“Swimming with the Sharks” is an annual event that is a part of Entrepalooza, sponsored by the Briar Cliff Enactus team. Enactus is an international, non-profit community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world.
