Event Description:
The Clausen Art Gallery at Briar Cliff University is proud to present the 2025 Siouxland Art Educator Exhibition, on view from September 15th through December 6th, 2025. This exhibition highlights the work of five art teachers from across our region who continue to share their passion for creativity both in their classrooms and in their studios.

Featured artists include:
· Suzanne Kolbos, North High School
· Matthew O’Kane, West High School
· Corrine Weece, Westwood High School
· Derek Buckley, Woodbury Central High School
· Amy Sobaski, Bishop Heelan High School

This exhibition emphasizes the artists as individuals, each carrying a distinct creative voice shaped by personal experience, exploration, and practice. The work they produce both in and out of the classroom inevitably informs the way they teach, just as their time with students shapes the way they see and make art. By presenting their own creative pursuits, these educators remind us that teaching is not a separate role from making but a dialogue between the studio and the classroom. Their art reveals the richness of that exchange and underscores how personal expression and professional dedication can coexist and strengthen one another.

The works on view reflect a wide range of media, ideas, and processes, underscoring the richness of artistic practice in Siouxland. As visitors encounter this exhibition, they are invited to see the ways in which creativity moves through both teaching and making, sustaining the larger cultural fabric of our community.
