Kayla Randall (’23) knew she wanted to complete her degree after going to WITCC for her associate’s degree. After hearing about the renowned education program at Briar Cliff, Kayla knew she wanted to be a Charger and follow in her mom’s footsteps.

Briar Cliff recently signed a 2+2 Articulation Agreement with WITCC, where students enrolled in this collaborative program who complete their Associate of Arts degree at Western Iowa Tech Community College can easily transfer to receive their Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education at the Cliff.

“It was a smooth transition,” Kayla says. “My transfer advisor helped me in the process as I had many questions and she answered all of them.”

Once a student enters the education program, they are actively learning in real classrooms by observing teachers, working with small groups of students and being a part of the unique Professional Development School.

“I absolutely love the fact I can do practicums right off the bat when I came here. I was so shocked when I found that out, and that definitely is my favorite part so far,” she says.

Making connections and getting to know campus was easy for Kayla. She’s loved getting involved by joining choir and created relationships with her education professors.

“Jeanene Sampson has been tremendously helpful for me. She notices any little change from me and asks questions which means a lot.”

Thanks to professors like Jeanene Sampson, the education department boasts a 100% job placement rate for program completers.

“My advise to students is to ask questions if you need help. The staff here is amazing and is willing to help you with anything you are concerned about,” Kayla says.
