SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Melanie Berte-Hickey, assistant professor of social work at Briar Cliff University, has been appointed to the Catholic Social Worker’s National Association Board (CSWNA). The CSWNA was established for social workers who are faithful to the teachings of the church and looking for support and direction within their profession based upon church teaching.
Berte-Hickey and BCU alum Lynnea Andersen presented “Resolving End-of-Life Care Dilemmas Through the Application of Ethical Religious Directives” at the Catholic Social Worker’s National Association Annual Conference in November 2018.
“I have a love and passion for my faith and feel that being on this board will allow me to use my knowledge and passion to help serve others and students,” says Berte-Hickey.
Berte-Hickey received her bachelor’s in social work from the University of Northern Iowa and master’s in social work from the University of Iowa as well as a Bioethics Certification from the National Catholic Bioethics Center.
