Briar Cliff University Catholic Daughters have been accepting formal dress wear for the men and women at Mid-Step Services as they get excited for Night to Shine. Night to Shine aims to give people with special needs and unforgettable prom night experience.
Junior Megan Loutsch noticed the 20+ dresses form formal events and weddings, between her and her sisters, were just sitting in a closet taking up space. She saw the need for a formal wear drive.
“I wanted those dresses to have more memories and for people to make more memories in them, so I decided I wanted to donate them to a cause like this,” says Megan.
The formal wear drive collected over 65 items of formal wear attire, including dresses, dress shirts, and ties. Loutsch wanted to show others that even during a pandemic, the community can get creative and still serve and give.
“As a future educator, I have always loved seeing the smiles on the faces of students with disabilities when they feel included and have moments where they shine,” says Megan.
