Sioux City, IA – The Briar Cliff Student Government will host the first-ever Great Plains Athletic Conference Student Government Summit on Thursday, March 21 from 10:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the St. Francis Center on Briar Cliff’s campus.
Student government representatives from Briar Cliff University, Dakota Wesleyan University, Doane University, Dordt College, Midland University and Morningside College will be in attendance. The representatives will participate in breakout sessions, presentations and a leadership workshop led by Mandy Engel-Cartie, executive director of Girls Inc. of Sioux City.
A native of Sioux City, Mandy Engel-Cartie has held leadership roles in non-profit organizations for more than 20 years, the past 16 as the executive director of Girls Inc. of Sioux City. Engel-Cartie helped transform Girls Inc. of Sioux City through significant programmatic change and growth, board development, a highly successful capital campaign resulting in a $6 million state-of-the art facility and growth of an endowment fund exceeding several million dollars. Her successful leadership was recently recognized by Girls Inc. with a rare 100% rating.
Briar Cliff Student Government is the voice and political force for Briar Cliff's student body. Its major function is to keep an open line of communication between students, faculty and administrators.
