Briar Cliff student receives Seaboard Triumph Jefferson Award

Sioux City, IA – Isiah Lysius, a senior Applied Health and Exercise Sciences major from Miami, FL, and president of Briar Cliff University’s Men of Color student organization, received the October 2018 Seaboard Triumph Jefferson Award.

“It’s an amazing recognition and honor that symbolizes the impact of the joyful service that the Men of Color and I bring to the community and the groups that we work with. I am blessed to lead an amazing group of men who feel the need to make a difference just as much as I do,” said Lysius.

“I nominated Isiah because of the work he does as the president of Men of Color,” said Jenny Tobin, Director of Counseling at Briar Cliff. “Throughout the year, he spearheaded events that gave back to the community, and his passion for service has inspired a group of men to join him. I am proud of the man he has become at Briar Cliff and cannot wait to see what his future holds.”

Since 1972, the Jefferson Awards have honored volunteers from throughout the country. Seaboard Triumph Foods sponsors the Jefferson Awards in Siouxland to recognize those who give back to the community. The Seaboard Triumph Jefferson Award recipients are announced on the last Tuesday of each month on Siouxland News.
