Sioux City, IA – Briar Cliff University Doctor of Physical Therapy professor Patrick Hauer, PT, EdE, MHS, GCCP has been honored as the 2018 Physical Therapist of the Year by the South Dakota Physical Therapy Association (SDAPTA).
“It is an enormous honor being selected as South Dakota’s physical therapist of the year by the SDAPTA,” Hauer says. “My involvement in the organization has always been focused on making the profession better for new graduates entering the field.”
Hauer received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and went on to receive a Master of Health Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis and his Doctor of Education from the University of South Dakota.
Hauer joined Briar Cliff University in 2015 as a full-time professor and assistant program director. He teaches pathophysiology, cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, differential diagnosis, orthotics and prosthetics, emergency response, and clinical correlations and is a clinical instructor in the Briar Cliff Clinic, a pro bono physical therapy clinic.
Along with his teaching roles, Hauer has served in numerous leadership roles with the SDAPTA as treasurer and a member of the ethics, public relations and membership committees. He is currently the president of the SDAPTA.
