Sioux City, Iowa—A new initiative at Briar Cliff University aims to increase leadership development and empowerment opportunities for women of all ages. Briar Cliff will launch The 1930, a unique women’s philanthropy initiative, on Friday, September 28 from 4 pm to 6 pm in the St. Francis Center on BCU’s campus.
Named for the year Briar Cliff was founded for women by the Sisters of St. Francis, The 1930 is geared toward building a community of women throughout the country united in support of female students. The mission of The 1930 is simple: to build endless opportunities for students through scholarships, mentorships and internships.
The concept for The 1930 was developed after months of focused conversations between Briar Cliff President Rachelle Karstens and community leaders, alumni and benefactors about how to build leadership development opportunities for female students.
During The 1930 kick-off event, attendees are invited to celebrate and experience the inspiring stories of Briar Cliff students. Tickets to the event are $100 each and can be reserved through Briar Cliff’s University Relations Office by calling 712-279-5300.
Event proceeds will directly benefit the mission of The 1930.
