Immigration author, filmmaker set to speak at Briar Cliff

 

Sioux City, Iowa--Immigration in America will be highlighted during a presentation by author and filmmaker Roy Germano at Briar Cliff University on Sunday, September 24 at 8 pm in the St. Francis Center.   

Germano’s presentation, entitled “Building Bridges Not Walls: Talking About Immigration in the Age of Trump,” will highlight the anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States. Following his presentation, Germano will show a series of short documentaries which explore the costs and complexities of immigration.

A research scholar at New York University’s School of Law and adjunct assistant professor in New York University’s Masters Program in International Relations, Germano is the author of Outsourcing Welfare: How the Money Immigrants Send Home Contributes to Stability in Developing Countries, due this winter by Oxford University Press. He is also the award-winning director of the documentary The Other Side of Immigration and the Vice News series Immigrant America.
