Helicopter, therapy pets to land at Briar Cliff Health Fair
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – What do a helicopter, therapy pets and Sioux City Fire Engine No. 4 have in common? All will be featured at Briar Cliff University Annual Health and Wellness Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, in the Stark Student Center on the Briar Cliff campus at 3303 Rebecca Street, Sioux City.
At this free public event, a Mercy Air Care helicopter will land for the public to view, along with a therapy dog and cat from the Siouxland Humane Society and representatives with fully equipped emergency units from Siouxland Paramedics, Siouxland Red Cross, Sioux City Fire Department, Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office and Sioux City Police Department.
BCU Health Fair goers may have free screenings for oral cancer, skin cancer, blood pressure, body composition, in addition to cervical and spinal assessments, flexibility and step and carotid ultrasound checks and nutrition consultation. Participants also may register to become donors through Be a Match Bone Marrow Registration and Iowa Organ Donor Registration.
At noon, Dr. Thomas Benzoni, of the local TV program, “Ask the Doc,” will give a talk on energy drinks. The event also will feature representatives from Siouxland District Health, Siouxland Community Health Center, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Counsel on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence and Jackson Recovery, YWCA and Mercy’s Blue Zone.
