The 2013 NAIA Wrestling National Championships featured 210 qualifiers representing 37 programs from across the United States. Two freshmen represented Briar Cliff; Kyle Robison at 125 and Joseph Skylar Weber at 149. They were two of 38 freshmen to take the mat at this year's championships, which were held at the Jacobson Exhibition Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa. Robison bowed out with a 1-2 record, while Weber went 0-2.
"Kyle and Skylar had freshman campaigns they should be proud of. They each earned a spot in this year's national tournament through a new and much more challenging qualification process," said Briar Cliff head coach Joe Privitere. "Although I know these two had goals of reaching the podium, making it to the show is an accomplishment in itself. The national tournament is something you need to prepare for year round, its also something you are better prepared for the second time around. I think this experience will serve them well in the long run. They both represented themselves and the university well this season and I am proud to call them Chargers."
