Briar Cliff Announces New Board of Trustee Members

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Briar Cliff University is pleased to announce that Ron Bond, Dr. Gerald Combs and David Simmons have joined the Board of Trustees for the university.

Ron Bond, a resident of Dakota Dunes, SD, most recently served as President and Treasurer of AC&R Specialists, Inc./Global Engineering & Construction in Sioux City, IA. Prior to that he was a financial executive for firms located in Chicago.

Bond is a CPA and has an extensive financial and management background.  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and accounting from the University of Iowa. 

Gerald Combs

Combs

Dr. Gerald Combs resides in Maine where he is a professor emeritus for Cornell University and an adjunct senior scientist for Tufts University.  He’s done extensive research in China and Bangladesh with collaborations in Germany and Denmark and lectured in 30 countries.

Dr. Combs has a Bachelor of Science in zoology from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in entomology from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in nutritional biochemistry from Cornell University.

David Simmons

Simmons

David Simmons is currently a business partner in three Washington, DC restaurants and serves as a consultant for non-profits, providing advice on management, planning and fundraising.  Previously, he has worked as director of development at several firms in Washington, DC.

Simmons is a 1980 graduate of Briar Cliff University with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He also completed graduate studies in public history at Loyola University in Chicago.
