Briar Cliff offers nursing degrees at every level: A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program; a traditional, four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and an online, RN-to-BSN option.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The nursing degree programs at Briar Cliff University have been reaccredited through the year 2026 by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) (www.aacn.nche.edu/ccne-accreditation).

I’m proud of our nursing faculty, staff and students who worked tirelessly to achieve our goal of accreditation, and are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in nursing education.

— Susan Beidler,Department of Nursing chair

“This accreditation affirms the strength and reputation of our nursing programs at Briar Cliff University,” said Susan Beidler, associate professor and chair of the Department of Nursing. “I’m proud of our nursing faculty, staff and students who worked tirelessly to achieve our goal of accreditation, and are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence in nursing education.”

Briar Cliff offers nursing degrees at every level: A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks; a traditional, four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and an online, RN-to-BSN option. The university also offers a post-graduate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certificate program.

The CCNE was established in 1998 and serves as a specialized accrediting agency that contributes to the improvement of the public’s health by ensuring the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency nursing programs across the nation.

In the spring of 2015, a group of external reviewers visited Briar Cliff’s campus on behalf of CCNE to observe classrooms; review nursing curriculums; and visit with current students, faculty and nursing program graduates. Their report was completed and reviewed by the CCNE Board of Commissioners, which found Briar Cliff’s nursing programs met all accreditation standards — including those related to institutional commitment, resources, curriculum, teaching practices and program outcomes.
