SIOUX CITY, Iowa — They haven’t even declared a major yet, but there’s a group of Siouxland high school students getting an up-close look at what it would like to be a nurse.
For more than a decade, Briar Cliff University has given prospective students a chance to see what the career is like through state-of-the-art simulations and nursing training.
[It's all part of a summer nursing camp at Briar Cliff University.]
"When I first heard of it I thought wow what an interesting idea," says Susan Beidler, professor of nursing at BCU. "Because we talk about how important it is to introduce nursing to young folks, so that they can have that idea before they have to choose a career."
Students get to try their hand at different nursing skills with human-like models.
