Assistant Professor of Theology
Briar Cliff University welcomes applications for The Sisters of Saint Francis Endowed Chair in Theology. This full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position will commence in Fall 2020, and will be instrumental for nurturing the Catholic Franciscan heritage and mission of our liberal arts institution, as we embark upon our ninth decade.
The preferred candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic who is fluent in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, and who demonstrates some combination of expertise in Franciscan Spirituality, Environmental Theology, and/or Christian Ethics. Primary teaching responsibilities will occur within the Theology and Philosophy Department, with prospects for interdisciplinary collaboration, and dual-enrollment online offerings for Diocese of Sioux City high schools. An enthusiasm for contributing to general education courses and undergraduate learning communities is indispensable. Briar Cliff’s standard teaching load is 4/4, with opportunities for periodic course release to foster academic research, program development, community outreach, and related professional projects.
