Larry oversees Briar Cliff University's Empowering Learning Initiative, fueled by a $2.24 million Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The five-year SIP grant will assist the University in improving and strengthening the institution's academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability. In addition to his work with the Empowering Learning Initiative, Larry also oversees the development and submission of grant funding requests for Briar Cliff.
Larry has nearly 20 years of experience in resource development for the Sioux City Railroad Museum and several other community and non-profit organizations. His efforts has resulted in nearly $100 million in grant awards and other fundraising.
Larry has been awarded numerous certifications throughout his career including certifications for high performance management, grantsmanship, and leadership.
In addition to his professional work, Larry serves as a railroad historian and historical researcher. His research has appeared in several peer-reviewed nominations to list former railroad properties on the National Register of Historic Places.
