Heidi Kammer Hodge is an advocate, innovator, leader, consultant, and educator in integrated substance abuse, addiction, mental health and primary health care. She is dedicated to addressing social determinants of health, access, and racial disparities impacting the community.
Heidi maintains over 18 years of professional experience with expertise in health care with emphasis in addiction and mental health care, including 14 years in management and executive leadership. In January 2018, she joined the Family Access Center, serving western Iowa, as the Executive Director. In 2018, she also joined Briar Cliff University as an assistant professor of social work.
She leads Consulting by Design LLC, a firm specializing in behavioral health consultation, strategic planning, process/ outcome program evaluation, and fund development/ grant writing services. She also provides technical assistance and consulting services in the areas of compliance, culturally responsive services, integrated care, and behavioral health care. Heidi is also community faculty with: Integrated Behavioral Health with the University of Minnesota, College of Continuing Education and Addictions with Ottawa University.
From February 2016 to December 2017, she was the Vice President & Chief Operations Officer with Jackson Recovery Centers in Sioux City, Iowa serving the Midwest region of Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska, focused on creating a recovery centered Siouxland through programmatic excellence. She led a continuum of addiction, mental health, medical care and overall integrated services with a team of nearly 250, $20 million budget, and serving over 5,000 individuals and families served each year.
Prior to joining the Jackson Recovery Centers team, she was with RESOURCE in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as Vice President of Chemical and Mental Health. At RESOURCE she was part of the executive leadership team and officer of the corporation and provided leadership for a $20 million continuum of behavioral health including access, clinical, care coordination and recovery support services for a team of nearly 200 and serving over 5,000 individuals and families each year.
Her leadership approach is transformational, transparent and adaptive with a framework of mission driven care, evidence-based practices, impactful outcomes, and continuous quality improvement.
Her background brings a blend of expertise to include non-profit management, leadership, and clinical practice. Heidi’s undergraduate education was from the University of South Dakota, where she received a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in alcohol and drug abuse studies. Heidi achieved her master’s degree in social work from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota with emphasis in family practice, including program development and policy training. Her thesis was entitled “The Experience of Recovery from the Perspective of Chemically- Dependent Women”. She is an alumna of the 2010 Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Leadership Institute.
Heidi is dually licensed as a mental and chemical health professional. She is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and licensed alcohol and drug counselor (LADC-inactive) in Minnesota and licensed independent social work (LISW) in Iowa.
Heidi grew up in northeast Nebraska on a farm near Bloomfield, Nebraska. She currently resides in Sioux City, Iowa with her spouse Vince, and two daughters, Emily and Grace, and dog, Lady.
