Matt Dewald

Biography

Dr. Matt Dewald joined the faculty at Briar Cliff University in August, 2016. Dr. Dewald earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of South Dakota. He is licensed to practice Physical Therapy in Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska.

Dr. Dewald has 10 years of experience as a PT. He has practiced in a variety of settings including Inpatient, Outpatient, Long Term Care, Home Health, Wound Care and Sports. A majority of his experiences lie in the Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy Fields.

Dr. Dewald possess a great breadth and depth of knowledge in his teaching areas as noted with Board Clinical Specialty Certifications in both Orthopaedics and Sports. He has completed training in Dry Needling and SASTM. He works with area athletes both on the side lines and in the clinic to stay current with his practice. Dr. Dewald is a member of the APTA (Sports, Orthopaedic and Education Sections).

Currently, Dr. Dewald is the Pre Professional Health Science Club Advisor, Research Advisor, Chair of the DPT Admissions Committee, and sits on the Policy Committee, Progress and Conducts Committee, Special Events Committee, Assessment Committee and Committee of the Whole. Outside of BCU, Dr. Dewald is on the Board for the Missouri River Runners as the Community Impact Chair.

Dr. Dewald’s scholarly agenda focuses on Dry Needling, Diagnostic Ultrasound, EMG Studies and Pedagogy. Dr. Dewald maintains contemporary clinical competence through his clinical work, attendance at conferences, and peer-reviewed conference presentations.
