Christianson’s coaching career spans all the way back to 2002 when he was a student assistant at Northwest Missouri State. Since then, he has made stops at Southern Indiana (2004-08), Brescia University (2008-12), Missouri Valley College (2012-14), another stint at Southern Indiana (2015-16), Waldorf (2016-17) and Southeastern Community College (2017-18).
At Southeastern, Christianson was the head cross country coach and was tasked with building a program and recruiting. He served as the director of cross country and track and field at Waldorf where he helped three runners qualify for nationals in cross country with all three placing in the top 200 at the 2016 NAIA Cross Country Championships. His men’s XC roster finished second in the conference with six runners in the top 14 in his first year in the league. Christianson also helped Waldorf send five athletes to the track and field national meet, the first national qualifiers in school history in track and field. During his time at Missouri Valley he guided multiple athletes to numerous all-conference selections and conference championships in three seasons while also helping four athletes receive All-American status in track and field.
Christianson was a collegiate athlete from 1998-2001 competing for two years at Colby Community College and two more at Northwester Missouri State. While at Colby, Christianson qualified for nationals on five occasions with two in cross country, two in indoor track and field and one in outdoor track and field. He was an All-American in the 3000 meter run in 2000 and was also an Academic All-American in track and field that same year.
