Prior to Briar Cliff, Coach Boyer spent two seasons at Raytown High School, coaching primarily the sprints and jumps. In two years there he coached a couple Missouri All-Stater’s. In 2017, Dominic Gicinto was runner in the triple jump with 46’11 and 6th in the long jump with of 22’2.5 (PR 23’5). Shelby Butts qualified in the 200/400 (25.97/56.63) respectively but qualified on a hip fracture and was unable to compete. She did qualify the following season running 56.93 and taking 7th. Also 2nd year, Sophomore Dontae Manning burst on the sprint scene become All-State in the 100/200 (10.77/21.9).
Before Raytown, Boyer was the Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach. He was tasked starting the Track program July 25, 2014. Under Boyer, the Avila team grew from 9 to 40 athletes within 2 years. Each Indoor/Outdoor Conference Meet, Avila had a conference Champion. 2 Indoor (M400, W Pent.) 4 Outdoor (2x W Hepth, WHJ, WLJ) Following the conclusion of the second season, Avila came away with its first ever ASCIS-NAIA All-American in the Women’s High Jump. Sarah Krig jumped 5’8 at the National meet to place 7th. Academically, the Women’s Track team won High Team GPA its first year in existence and second year too. Men’s Cross Country also repeated as High Team GPA winners both years.
Coach Boyer started his professional coaching career with a bang. In his only season at William Woods University, he won 5 team American Midwest Conference (AMC) titles. Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Indoor/Outdoor, Men’s Indoor/Outdoor. Had a 4x4 All-American Indoor and Outdoor squad. Also had a runner place 9th Indoor/Outdoor at Nationals. 17 AMC Conference Champions Men/Women Indoor and Outdoor.
Boyer holds a BS of Business with a minor in Communications/Computer Tech from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). He competed on the track team at UMKC for 5 years from 2005-2010. He was a 6x Conference Champion (2x 60H, 2x 4x1, 110H, 400H) 18x Conference Medalist. 2010 Indoor/Outdoor Conference Track Meet MVP for the Summit League. Indoor Co-Track athlete of Year 2010 Summit League. Holds 3 school records (300 IN, 110H, 400H) Was inducted into the UMKC Hall of Fame in 2017, as well as his High School Hall of Fame. Boyer had a brief stint pro after college training for the 2012 Olympics in the 400H. Trained with Gold Medalist and World Record Holder in the 110H Aries Merrit. Under the guidance and tutelage of Pat Henry, Vince Anderson and 2012 USOC Track Coach of the year in Andreas Behm.
Boyer holds a Level 1 USATF Coaching Certificate and a USATFCCA Strength and Conditioning Certificate.
