Natural History of Hawaii

Encounter active volcanoes, find endangered species and explore tropical shores. Visit botanical gardens and national parks. See a diversity of habitats! It’s all part of the “Natural History of Hawaii” tour, sponsored by the BCU Department of Biology.
The field experience will focus on the regional geology and native habitats of Hawaii. The course will examine two islands, the Big Island and Kauai. Daily field trips will be supplemented by evening lectures and discussions.
Course credit
Course credit in BIOL/ESCI 280 will be offered. Students will keep a log of daily activities and complete assignments based on observations made during the trip. Grading will be based on one exam, the trip log, post-trip questions, and partici-pation.
Cost includes
Estimated cost for the entire trip ($3,900) includes flight, car rental, lodging, food, and summer tuition for full-time BCU students. Enrollment will initially be limited to six students, but could increase depending on interest.
