Department of Physical Therapy

About our Department

In 2015, Briar Cliff launched a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)* program. This 136-credit hour program provides a progressive, clinical-based curriculum and hands-on, service learning experiences to prepare you for a successful career in phyiscal therapy that positively impacts Siouxland and beyond.

The DPT program works with Briar Cliff's Center for Health Care Initiatives to provide interprofessional eduaction experiences that integrate Briar Cliff's mission and values. The program includes interprofessional classes, integrated and long-term clinicals, research simulation experiences and service learning opportunities with our community partners, giving you the chance to work side-by-side with faculty and clinicians to provide services to underserved populations across Siouxland and in our very own student-run pro bono clinic.

LEARN MORE

*Effective April 29, 2015, the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Briar Cliff University has been granted Candidate for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703-706-3245; email: accreditation@apta.org). Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates that the program is progressing toward accreditation and may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Candidate for Accreditation is not an accreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.
