Lead Maintenance Technician
Responsible for All Maintenance Areas | Repair, Refurbish, Paint, Monitor, Maintain
The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for all maintenance areas of BCU facilities. The Lead Technician will possess a trade skill license or will have 2+ years of experience working in a technical trade. The Lead Technician should have the ability to do a variety of tasks and use a variety of equipment and tools to complete the job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed.
- Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities.
- Change of all filters for HVAC as required.
- Prepare classrooms for incoming classes; remove or rearrange furniture for events or classes, as needed.
- Remove and properly dispose of all recyclable materials.
- Change light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
- Make ready all classrooms, studios, dorms as needed.
- On call maintenance for all facilities, 24/7.
- Maintain exterior property, including snow removal.
- Monitor/maintain diverse HVAC systems and Boiler operations.
- Give support to supervisor with regards to accomplishing tasks while referring uncommon personnel or technical issues to the supervisor.
- Monitor and help implement training of designated crew members.
- Carry out diverse skilled activities involving the repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- When directed may cover for Supervisor during absences from work.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a trade skill license or will have 2+ years of experience working in a technical trade related to this position
- Proficient understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and ATTITUDE - KSAA's:
Knowledge of:
- Use and potential hazards of equipment being used.
- Tools and equipment commonly used in maintenance work.
- Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing knowledge.
- Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints.
Skill in:
- Using a computer to perform basic operations.
- Operating outdoor equipment such as snow plow truck, skid-steer loader.
- Problem solving and performing a variety of tasks.
Ability to:
- Able to work and communicate effectively with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of college students and staff.
- Exercise considerable judgment and initiative.
- Follow protocols and escalate as needed.
- Understand and follow broad and complex instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Employees will frequently bend at waist, sit, kneel, and occasionally climb or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may occasionally be loud based on work. Temperature varies based on current work. May vary from extreme cold to extreme heat when working outside.
