Living on campus is convenient and affordable. The university's residence halls vary in size and atmosphere. You'll find apartment-style rooms in the Baxter DiGiovanni Center and traditional residence-style rooms in Toller and Alverno Hall.

Living in Siouxland
Located on a secluded clifftop overlooking the fourth largest city in Iowa, our unique campus location offers you the advantages of the vibrant Sioux City community while providing the safe, small, caring campus environment.
Our cozy campus is surrounded by the Loess Hills, a unique area created by windblown soil. Sioux City is the city with the highest amount of loess deposits in the world. With wild prairie grass in the backyard, our students have access to walk along breathtaking trails leading to scenic overviews, and share our campus home with animals like deer, turkey, and bluebirds. Then, just a quick drive down the hill and you're transported back to city life. The City of Sioux City has so much to do, from walking around the Sioux City Art Museum, live music downtown, hitting Historic 4th Street, and grabbing a slice of El Fredo's pizza. The Siouxland community has no shortage of local restaurants and shopping venues. Our students cannot get enough of the countless parks and miles of trails for walking, biking, hiking, or running.
Everyone Has a Home
Something unique about Briar Cliff is our Housing System. To help enable students to feel that sense of belonging from day one, Briar Cliff University has established a House System. The House System provides more continuity in the student experience, helping all our students create that link between learning and living. When you become registered at Briar Cliff every student is placed in a House.

- Saturday, August 5th – Fall Athletes (Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer)
- Saturday, August 12th – PALS/Charger Team and Fall Athletes (Men's and Women's Cross Country)
- Wednesday, August 16th - Fall Athletes (Men’s and Women’s Golf)
- Friday, August 18th – All New Students
- Friday, August 18th - 20th – Charger Weekend, events will start at 3:30 PM.
- Sunday, August 20st – All Returning Students
Your move-in date will vary, based on the activities you are involved in and the location you are assigned. Residence Life personnel will be in touch to send information about your roommate, housing assignments, and housing contract via email. We will additionally communicate move-in information, schedules, and dates to ensure every student is moved into campus in time for Charger Weekend activities. Contact Residence Life if you have any question or concerns.

 Planning what to bring to college doesn't have to be a guessing game. We encourage you to contact roommates before moving in, to determine who will bring large items to avoid duplicate items. You can always bring more items to school later as you become aware of needs related to residence life.

Therefore, we want to empower every student and employee with the ability and responsibility to help keep our caring community safe. If you "see something" concerning, or are questioning if something is against our policies, we implore you to "say something" by reporting it, so any additional need action can be pursued.
Emergencies on or around campus should be immediately reported, by calling Campus Security at 712-898-1888 or Sioux City Police Department at 911. A security officer is available 24/7.
