Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry

The basis of campus ministry is our commitment to the dignity of human life and respect for each person. In doing so, campus ministry focuses on the spiritual life of Briar Cliff students and seeks to integrate faith and action. BCU students learn a lot about themselves by sharing what they have with others. Perhaps that's why they volunteer approximately 10,000 hours of community service annually.

We offer spiritual growth through prayer and worship...

  • Mass celebrated daily on campus
  • Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday nights
  • Prayer & faith sharing groups
  • 30-hour fast
  • Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) weekly for students who wish to join the Catholic Church or complete their initiation by receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

We offer retreats to build community and promote a deeper understanding of the Christian faith...

  • Antioch Retreat: A student-led weekend retreat in October and March.
  • Busy Person’s Retreat: A winter retreat focused on developing a personal prayer life.

We also build a sense of community through local, national and international outreach...

  • Small group leadership at high school confirmation retreats
  • Community assistance and outreach to the poor
  • Water project mission work in rural Honduras

The Campus Ministry staff provides support during times of personal crisis, family illness and the death of loved ones...

  • Daily prayer requests circulated around campus
