Briar Cliff University Scholarship Application

Presidential Scholarships
The Presidential Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship. Minimum ACT 26 or 11170 SAT and a 3.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) are required. Students are awarded based on academic qualification, demonstrated leadership and an interview with University officials. The Iowa Tuition Grant will be deducted from the Presidential Scholarship. Recipients must maintain full-time status, live on campus and maintain a 3.0 GPA to renew the scholarship.

Academic Scholarships
The Briar Cliff Academic Achievement Award is based on high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores. This award ranges from $2,500-$9,000 on campus and $2,000-$6,500 off campus. To renew your award for the next academic year, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards (see page 7). This award is adjusted for residents or commuters. If awarded as an on campus student and the student moves off campus, the award will be adjusted to off campus amount. Students must be full-time (at least eight hours) each Term to receive funding.

Leadership Scholarships
The Briar Cliff University Richard J. Doyle Scholarship program recognizes and rewards proven leadership. This award is $1,000 annually. Students must have had at least a 3.0 high school GPA and be accepted for admission to the University. Students who receive this award must participate in the Leadership Program. Failure to participate in the program will result in non-renewal for the next academic year. The award can be automatically renewed up to four years if the student is a full-time day student.

The Bishop's Scholarship
Minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher, an ACT of 24 or higher (equivalent SAT of 1090 or higher) and rank in the top 25% of their class.  Applicants must belong to a parish within the Diocese of Sioux City and have the support of their pastor.

Alumni Scholarships
This $1,000 award is given to students who have a parent who graduated from Briar Cliff University. This award can be renewed up to four years if the student is a full-time day-time student.

Transfer Scholarships Up to $4,500 annually.
First-time transfer Briar Cliff students. Scholarships apply to full-time day students only. Preference given to early applicants.  No deadline.

Continuing Education Scholarship
These scholarships available for adult learners/non-traditional students.  Scholarships apply to full-time day students.

Connection Scholarship
This is a $500 scholarship exclusively for high school seniors and new transfer students who are from Northwest Iowa and live within the boundaries of the Sioux City Diocese and belong to a Catholic Parish. This award is automatically renewed for up to four years if the student is a full-time day student.

Art-Music-Theatre
Students who have auditioned or presented a portfolio may be considered for awards in art, music and theatre. Awards can be renewed based on participation or guidelines set by appropriate faculty member. Recipients must maintain full-time status.

Athletics Scholarships
Briar Cliff University offers athletic scholarships in the following sports: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Track, Tennis, Men’s Baseball, Football, Wrestling, Women’s Softball and Volleyball. Athletes must meet the grade point average requirements listed in the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards on page 7. Recipients must maintain full-time status.

Briar Cliff Cheerleading/Dance Participation Grants
Students interested in this grant must audition for cheerleading/dance squads. Students will receive $250 per sport after completion of the sport season in which they participate.
