Congratulations on your decision to attend Briar Cliff University. We
are delighted that you will be joining the Briar Cliff community. The
final step in the Admissions process is Orientation – an important start
in your Briar Cliff experience. Briar Cliff students who attend
Orientation experience an easier transition – academically and socially
– to campus. You’ll be glad that you participated in Orientation.
During Orientation, you
will…
• See what academic life is really like.
• Find out about academic requirements, University policies and
procedures.
• Complete the required assessment/ placement tests to ensure your
enrollment into courses that are
best for you.
• Register for fall classes.
• Meet faculty advisors who will be available to discuss programs and
other academic opportunities.
• Get to know many other first-year students.
• Hear from Briar Cliff students who are Peer Advising Leaders (PALs).
• Meet with Financial Aid staff.
• Learn about Campus Security, Campus Life, Food Services, Campus
Ministry and Student Activities.
• Get to know Briar Cliff’s scenic hilltop campus.
• Meet Briar Cliff students.
• Have fun!
Orientation
Registration
All new students are required to attend one Orientation session.
Online registration is quick and easy. Indicate if you, your
parents/guardians and/or family members will need residence hall
accommodations. Upon receipt of your Orientation Registration Form, we
will send you confirmation, an itinerary and a list of what you should
bring. A $125 Orientation fee will be charged to your BCU student
account. If you need to change the date of your Orientation session
after registering, please call Admissions at 800.662.3303 or
712.279.5200.
Room Accommodations for
Orientation
Students will share a double occupancy room with another student in
Alverno Hall. Parents/guardians may stay in Baxter-DiGiovanni Hall
suites, which accommodate four per suite, or reserve a local hotel room.
If you are staying on campus, your room will be furnished with linens
and towels. Limited campus housing will be available. On campus housing
is not available for parents/guardians during the August Orientation.
Orientation Program
Amenities
While attending Orientation, you will have opportunities to participate
in a number of activities and meet many members of Briar Cliff’s faculty
and staff. Supper will be offered on Day One of Orientation and brunch
will be provided on Day Two.
Orientation Arrival
Instructions
On the first day of each session, please check in from 12:15 p.m. to
12:45 p.m. in the Stark Student Center. Individuals with disabilities or
other special needs should call 800.662.3303 or 712.279.5200 to arrange
for accommodations.
Orientation Tip
Contact your roommate and coordinate attending Orientation sessions
together. If you have not been assigned a roommate, contact your
Admissions counselor. |
