Services for Briar Cliff CE Students:

Individualized Campus Visit…
We invite you to visit campus and experience Briar Cliff for yourself. You will meet admissions counselors, financial aid counselors, academic advisors and others who specialize in working with adult learners. To make the most of your visit to campus, contact us before you plan to visit. Appointments are available days, evenings, and weekends.

Transcript Evaluation…
Once we receive a copy of your official transcripts, we can evaluate them to determine how many credits will transfer to Briar Cliff. If you are planning to transfer after completing a two year program at a community college, our Continuing Education Admissions Counselor will work with you to plan the classes you should take at the community college.

Personalized Academic Planning…
Briar Cliff arranges for each Continuing Education student to have a personal academic advisor who is trained in course selection and registration.  You will meet with your advisor at least three times per year.  He or she will help you select courses and plan your academic program from start to finish.

Career Services…
Briar Cliff University’s Career Services Office will help you with career exploration, résumé development, interviewing and successful job search techniques. In addition, internships are available in virtually every department at businesses and organizations in Sioux City and throughout the region.

Scholarships for DAYTIME/FULL TIME CE Students…
Briar Cliff University recognizes that scholarships are important to adult learners, too. Briar Cliff awards scholarships to academically qualified transfer students. Briar Cliff scholarships are awarded in varying amounts and are based on the student’s prior college grade point average. Your CE Admissions Counselor has information about other scholarships. Apply here.

CE Specialists…
The Executive Director of Continuing Education, the Continuing Education Admissions Counselor, the Graduate Admissions Counselor, and the CE Support Staff are knowledgeable and experienced CE student service professionals.  You will benefit from their expertise and high level of service at your first visit, through the admissions process, and during your entire time of study at BCU.

 CE Orientation…
A special orientation session for new CE students focuses on the information most important to BCU’s adult learners. Attending orientation will assure you that you are ready to go when your classes begin.  Sessions are held at times that accommodate adult learners’ busy schedules.

 CE Lounge…
This special area for CE students is located in Heelan Hall close to the coffee shop, Java City.  It is a popular spot for CE students to study, rest between classes, eat lunch, and get a free cup of coffee and a snack during evening and Saturday morning classes. A refrigerator and a microwave are available in the lounge.

 Bookstore Service…
The Briar Cliff University Bookstore staff is available to help CE students whose schedules make it difficult to visit the bookstore.  Arrangements can be made for students to visit the bookstore outside of normal hours or for books to be delivered to a pick-up location.  With a Student I.D. number, you can charge your books to your Briar Cliff student account.
