Anthony Pike wrapped up his junior campaign with an eighth-place finish at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships. The 174-pounder finished as an NAIA All-American with an overall record of 23-7.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Briar Cliff athletes laced up gold shoestrings for Brooklyn, a 3-year-old Sioux City girl who is battling leukemia. The special laces were part of “Go Gold” weekend (Oct. 11-13), when BCU partnered with “Go 4 the Goal” to raise funds and awareness in the fight against pediatric cancer.
Annual Golf Classic Raises Over $47K for Student Scholarships

More than 100 golfers raised over $47,000 for Briar Cliff University student scholarships in BCU’s Annual Lila Frommelt Memorial Golf Classic, held recently at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City. The tournament received broad community support from local businesses and individuals.
TRACK & FIELD: Cowan does it again, soars to another national title

MARION, Ind. — Raheem Cowan became Briar Cliff's second-ever and first male multiple national champion on Saturday as he claimed the triple jump title at the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Cowan, who also won this year's indoor crown, jumped 50 feet, ¾ inches — more than 2 inches farther than the runner-up.

Raheem Cowan collected all-conference honors in four events as he led the Chargers to a sixth-place finish at the GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in Seward, Neb. It was the highest conference finish in the history of the men's track program. Cowan won the triple jump for the second-straight year with a leap of 47 feet, ¾ inch, finished fourth in the long jump (22-8), sixth in the 400-meter dash (50.52 seconds) and anchored the Chargers' 4x400-meter relay team, which finished second and set a new school record with a time of 3:19.53.

Briar Cliff University Director of Athletics Steve Gast has announced that Trevor Schirman has been hired as the institution's next volleyball coach. Schirman, a former member of the United States National Team, is currently an assistant coach at the University of California – San Diego and a head coach within the Epic Volleyball Club in the San Diego area.
