Acquisitions
Each department will be allocated a material budget which is used to purchase books or audiovisual media. Requests for materials must be submitted by library request cards or library sent yellow bibliographic cards. All requests must be signed by your department chair and given to your library liaison.
Instruction
A faculty librarian will be happy to assist you in providing bibliographic instruction sessions for your class. We also can provide you with assessment tools in information literacy. For more information, see the Association of College and Research Libraries Competency Standards for Higher Education
Library Computer Lab - room 206 A computer lab with sixteen student workstations and a teacher station for projecting from a laptop computer is available in the library. This room was developed to meet a need for students who require computer and printing access while on campus, outside of regular computer classroom time. Library instruction sessions are scheduled in this room when faculty members request them. This room may be reserved by faculty members assigned to a regular lecture hall that needs their students to experience one hands-on session during a term for a special assignment. Reserve this room by contacting our Reference/Instruction Librarian, Charlotte Widomski.
Reserves
Faculty may put materials in the library for their students to use. Materials must be owned by the faculty or the library. Copyright guidelines must be followed. Contact Kathy Weber for more information.
Database Access
Our online databases are accessible on campus to the public and off campus to the Briar Cliff University community with your BCU network account. Faculty also has extended service to several First Search databases. Contact your library liaison for passwords.

Faculty may borrow books for 30 days and special arrangements are made for the checking out of reference books, periodicals, equipment, and videotapes.
