Online Databases
Online databases
are purchased by
the library.
They index
articles with
bibliographic
information,
abstracts,
and/or full
text. The
articles come
from journals,
magazines,
newspapers, and
trade
publications,
which require
the articles to
go through an
editing process
before
publication.
Most web sites
do not subject
posted
information to
an editing
process before

online.

articles within
the issue will
be listed either
alphabetically
by title or
numerically by

Online Databases
Specific
periodicals can
also be searched
in individual
databases.
However, each
database does
not index the
same
periodicals. For
example, a
periodical in
Academic Search
Elite may not
appear in
ProQuest
Research
Library. Also
the periodicals
may have no full
text.
