The mission of the Briar Cliff University Honors Program is to offer a forum for highly motivated, civically engaged service leaders to share in enriching academic and cultural experiences, both in the classroom and in the community. The Honors Program at Briar Cliff University offers students opportunities to integrate and apply knowledge to positively impact society, as well as enhanced experiential offerings through individualized research projects, academic seminars, internships and travel. The Honors Program embodies Briar Cliff’s core value of care for the individual by fostering a challenging academic environment and by promoting collaborative, innovative approaches to serving the people and places our Franciscan identity calls us to aid.
The Honors Program values operating communally whenever possible (positive peer pressure is a good thing) and supporting/pushing one another to high levels of achievement.
We're interested in making learning as passionate and non-pragmatic a pursuit as possible. This means having students follow self-defined lines of inquiry, rather than having students check off lists of requirements.
